Library Hotel is conveniently located between Bryant Park and Grand Central Station (both are just a few minutes walk away), and thus close to two subway stations as well as two of the three Coach USA bus stations connecting Manhattan with Newark Airport. It‘s a long, narrow historic building with a total of 13 stories, and a beautiful facade with art deco elements. Despite the great location in Midtown, the hotel was conveniently quiet - we stayed on the 12th floor, lower floor levels might be more impacted by traffic noise. The hotel is themed around books and libraries, also the hotel rooms (ours contained books on Asian religions). On the 1st floor, the reception is on the right and the restaurant on the left. On the 2nd floor, a lovely reading room can be used as guest lobby. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, granola bars and fresh fruit are available free of charge 24/7, which is a very nice touch. On the top floor (which is actually the 13th floor yet labeled as 14th floor as 13 is an unlucky number), a rooftop bar provides stunning views of the nearby buildings - drinks are served from 4pm, but the rooftop terrace is accessible 24/7. Our deluxe room was on the 12th floor and came with a comfy queen-sized bed, an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub that also served as a shower, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion) in small bottles (that were refilled daily), and bathrobes. The window could be opened, which we appreciated, but the room also had an A/C. Despite the window, the room was rather dark, which we did not mind at all. Apart from the convenient location, we liked the reading room and rooftop bar most. The hotel has many nice little touches, staff was very friendly, and our room well kept.

Everything about this hotel was just lovely! The staff were so helpful and accommodating. They were kind enough to upgrade us for a special occasion and allow for us to have early check-in so we could freshen up and wonder the city. They took time to give us suggest for dinner, and the hotel itself was so beautiful. It had that old New york charm, and the area only added to that. If you want a NY experience, you'll not be disappointed. I thought it was a lovely touch to have a beautiful room where we could get snacks, coffee, and beverages to keep us going, and the 14th floor was a little slice of heaven. Truly spectacular. We didn't eat at the restaurant but there is one right downstairs. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to Tony and Armand, specifically. You made us very happy! Also, the theme of the hotel was so lovely and felt like home, with all the beautiful books. The views to the beautiful building surrounding and the fact that Grand Central is right there too. Everything was just lovely! I was also traveling with my niece, and it was her first time in NY. She was lucky to have such an experience. They even ensured to give us a room that had children's books in the room. I thought that was a nice touch, too, welcoming young guests in such a way. She said the hotel was "cool." So, in teenage terms, that's a win. I will definitely be back! Whoever said customer service was dead hasn't stayed at The Library Hotel. Thanks again, guys.

The hotel was so beautiful and truly boutique and felt very cosy and atmospheric amongst the hustle and bustle of Midtown. It's in a brilliant location near the big sights and also Grand Central station, which made it super convenient for sightseeing and general travel. Our room was bigger than I expected, and super clean with nice toiletries. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite, too. I loved that lots of books were available to peruse during our stay, and the lounge available to guests was such a peaceful and enjoyable spot - more books, lots of refreshments available, and very "New York". The hotel is located in the library district, close to the Public Library which is just a 5 min walk away, and near the trail with lots of book-related plaques on the pavement. There's also a restaurant attached to the hotel which serves delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner (and brunch at the weekend). Would highly recommend this lovely hotel and we would happily stay again!

I needed to book a hotel for one night at the last minute and found the Library Hotel - a great find! Staff very helpful and friendly, and they had upgraded my room which was fantastic. I loved the little touches in the room such as the library books and the Dewey Decimal room numbers! They also have a fantastic 'reading room' area where guests can sit and have coffee/snacks at any time - this was the best part of the whole stay for a coffee-lover like me! I can't remember if this is a free option or comes as part of an additional service fee, so might be best to check if this sounds good to you! Really great location as well - right near Grand Central Station.
